We are pleased to announce that Sandy Thompson will be serving as our Director Of Competition (DOC) for the 2015 Racing Season.
I have been involved with racing since 1970. I started my racing in Chadron, Nebraska. In 1979 I built a car to race at Oregon Trail Speedway in Gering, Nebraska. Being the first women to race there was a challenge but a blast; I raced there until 2004. I then started racing at Big Country and was the Pure Stock Champion and Driver of the Year in 2006.
Throughout all of this time I also worked at the race track in Gering. Started out counting laps or doing whatever the track needed. I have been the track Manager at Hiway 92 Raceway Park for the past 12 years.
I worked for Gering Public Schools for 24 years. After retiring from the school I was the manager for a motel in Scottsbluff, Nebr for 5 years. Now I am retired and enjoying spending time with our children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. A lot of people know me as Grandma Sam as that has been my nick name throughout all of my racing career.
